Hey Gowangirl🙋🏽‍♂️ Greetings from South Florida 🌴🌞🌴 Great choice, Man in the Wilderness....not only my favorite Styx song but my favorite song of all time. I have such vivid memories of blasting The Grand Illusion (specificly Man in the Wilderness & Come Sail Away) 8-track out of the speakers in my car back in 1977 in our high school parking lot during our lunch break and after school. Was this song recorded by you while you were at this concert? I look back and realize how truly blessed we were to have such great music that ultimately became the soundtrack of our youth. Thanks again Gowangirl, you have awesome taste in music.

Gowan plays a good keyboard but Dennis IS THE VOICE when it comes to his own songs . Ain’t no substitute!!! Wish they would just play JY and Tommy’s songs

Yes, this was Dennis's first hit with Styx, and it will always be. But, that incarnation of Styx is over. Lawrence has stepped up nicely to replace him. And has also been able to pull Styx out of the pop oblivion DDY put them in. "The Mission" proved that Gowan can make his mark in such a great band. Without destroying their original music, but bringing it back instead.

I'm not sure if they do Babe or not. I saw DDY in an interview a few years ago and he stated that he and the other band members have an understanding that all parties could do any of the Styx songs, be it himself or the band as it is now. Unless he specified that particular song, based on what he said, it wouldn't pose a copyright issue. Having said that, maybe they just don't want to do it anymore. Their perogitive I guess

I so love this song! Being from Sweden I only discovered his music a few years back (thank god UA-cam) but he's awesome and my all time fav. singer/performer! Thanks for this, kinda makes me wish I was young back in the 80's. :-)

Question: this is the same way the Styxworld Tour began (as far as the 2 intros), and I've been trying to figure it out since then, but I came across this video from the 2008 world tour. The same intro plays after "School's Out", and I need to know if anybody knows what the intro is? Or who it is? Or if it can be found on youtube anywhere under some artist's name? Please respond, I've been looking for answers since 2001.

This is the song that got me really interested in Gowan's music. Even in the production version, it's so raw without all the accompanying instruments.

I saw this concert was my first ever rock concert...Thank U Gowan for a most memerable night I truly enjoyed the concert will never forget & have not forgotten it.

Thanks for getting this! I only wish you had shown the other guys too. (I know, sacrilege. LOL) Especially since Todd grabbed some vocals during these performances. Ricky and Todd can both sing incredibly well! It's too bad they don't enjoy it enough to snag a lead!

So sorry I missed it (but I was 13), got into Gowan just before Strange Animal (with this album) and followed him all the way through. The first album was simply fantastic.

Larry takes Styx to another level. I was never really a Styx fan but the "Lawrence Performance" really make's it for me. How is it that a band from as far back as the 70's have become that much better and powerful than ever. Gowan really compliments a fantastic group of musicians. Congratulations Larry and all the members of Styx for coming together and going beyond the expected with an outstanding performance. This band would win anyone over.
